ToughRock® Fireguard C® Gypsum Board – a definitive solution for advanced interior drywall applications. Crafted with exacting standards, it’s noncombustible, tested and described in accordance with ASTM E136, making it ideal for construction requiring a high fire-resistant rating.1 Its core is a dimensionally stable compound of gypsum, strengthened with glass fibers forming a robust, fire-resistant barrier. This product adheres to the ASTM C1396 Section 5 standards and comes in two thickness variants. Choose the 1/2″ (12.7 mm) or 5/8″ (15.9 mm) gypsum board, both UL Type TG-C and ULC classified Type C.
In high-use areas like kitchens and bathrooms or anywhere subject to powerful side lighting, make the most of your ToughRock® Fireguard C® Gypsum Board by employing a skillful hand to spread a fine layer of joint compound across the entire surface. This pivotal step will soften any seam lines and guard against unwanted visual emphasis. To achieve top-notch results, it’s critical to follow the guidance detailed in the Gypsum Association guidelines (GA-214 and GA-216). These manuals are your key to a flawless finish and proficient joint treatment for your walls and ceilings.

While gypsum boards are stronger in one direction, for walls, they may be installed either vertically or horizontally on both wood and steel studs. If the boards are to be used in a fire rated assembly, then use the board orientation that is stated in your specific rated assembly.
