DensGlass Shaftliner Yellow Gold shaftwall, stairwell, mechanical duct and area separation wall

DensGlass® Shaftliner

DensGlass® Shaftliner is a 1 inch thick (25.4 mm) glass-mat gypsum panel used in UL fire-rated shaftwall, stairwell, area separation wall assemblies in addition to horizontal shaftwall and duct assemblies.

  • A1 Reaction to Fire classification in accordance with BS EN 13501-1
  • Flame Spread 0, Smoke Developed <25 when tested according to ASTM E84 or CAN/ULC S102
  • Non-combustible when tested in accordance with ASTM E136 or CAN/ULC S114
  • DensGlass® Shaftliner resists mould growth, and has scored a 10, the highest score, when tested, as manufactured, per ASTM D3273**

Note: **ASTM D3273 measures mould growth in a 4 week controlled laboratory test. The mould resistance of any building product when used in actual job site conditions may not produce the same results as were achieved in the controlled, laboratory setting. No material can be considered mould proof.

Fire Resistance

Classed as non-combustible. Will not add to fire load if there is a fire

Moisture Resistance

DensGlass® Shaftliner panels are dimensionally stable and highly moisture resistant

Special Applications

Specialty application in area separation walls and shaftwalls/stairwells

DensGlass® Shaftliner fiberglass mat gypsum liner panels are ideal for use in vertical and horizontal shaftwall assemblies, stairwell applications and area separation walls in commercial and multi-family construction.

In buildings around the world, Georgia-Pacific’s lightweight, maintenance-free gypsum shaftwall/stairwell enclosures serve as the perfect alternative for heavy masonry construction in building cores.

Non-combustible DensGlass® Shaftliner Panels, utilizing fibreglass mats have a Euroclass reaction to fire A1 classification and offer superior mould and moisture resistance (H1 rating), are used to line the shaftwall/stairwell enclosures.

DensGlass® Shaftliner shaftwall/stairwell assemblies save space, offer quick and simple installation and don’t delay construction during cold weather. The moisture resistance properties of the DensGlass® Shaftliner Panel make it suitable for installation in semi-exposed areas before the building envelope is wind and weather-tight and is backed with a limited warranty against delamination and deterioration for up to 12 months of exposure to normal weather conditions.*

Space-saving DensGlass® Shaftliner shaftwall/stairwell enclosures are designed for elevator and air shafts, stairwells and mechanical rooms in industrial buildings where greater wall heights are common and as firewalls between office, warehouse and manufacturing areas. They are also used as horizontal membranes for corridor and stairway ceilings and under mechanical equipment where fire ratings are required and normal suspension support may be difficult.

Shaftwall assemblies are built from one side only, so there’s no need to access the inside of the shaft. The strong, C-T, C-H or I steel framing goes up quickly. Most configurations require only two steel components and two types of gypsum board. That makes these systems ideal for furred chases and interior partitions where fire ratings are required for exterior walls and access is restricted. Engineered for durability, these systems withstand air-pressure surges of high-speed elevators as well as lateral impact of stairway doors.
